Owen Bondono is a writer and teacher from Metro Detroit who currently resides in Windsor, Ontario. As an author, he is primarily interested in magical realism, science fiction, young adult fiction, and found family narratives. As a pansexual transguy who was raised by a lesbian, he is a life-long queer rights activist. Much of his work with writing resides in the intersection of these identities and interests, working to further inclusion in the culture of our fiction. In the classroom, he helps students find their voices and learn to speak for themselves and others (that is to say, he teaches middle school reading and creative writing).
Owen is also an outspoken crusader for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). November of 2016 will mark his eighth year as NaNoWriMo’s Municipal Liaison (ML) for the Metro Detroit region. It will also mark his thirteenth year as a participant, and — fingers crossed — his tenth win. If your story has been struggling to get out, NaNoWriMo might be just what you’ve been waiting for, and Owen is the guy to talk to.
